On February 6, 2023 communities throughout central and southern Turkey and northern Syria were rocked by two powerful earthquakes. The first - a 7.8-magnitude - occurred in the early hours of the day as people were still asleep and was felt as far as Israel and Lebanon. The second was a 7.5-magnitude quake that shook the region just six hours later. The full scale of damage is still unknown, but thousands of buildings were destroyed across more than a dozen cities, killing over 38,000 people and injuring hundreds of thousands more.

Maui Food Bank - Is a locally operated conduit for donated food and other essential items for the purpose of disaster relief. With every $1 donated for Wildfire disaster relief efforts, the Maui Food Bank can provide 4 meals to the hungry living in their island community.
World Central Kitchen (WCK) WCK’s Relief Team has established operations across Turkey and through partners in Syria, making and delivering fresh meals to displaced families and emergency crews stretched thin due to the scale of the disaster. Donations will be used to directly support WCK’s meal preparation and delivery efforts in both countries. .
CNH District Maui Disaster Relief - People from Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kahului, Maui are already responding to the needs of those who have lost everything when the historic town of Lahaina and its subdivisions were destroyed by fire. Emmanuel maintained a preaching station in Lahaina which was also destroyed by the fire and a number of their member families have suffered catastrophic losses. Emmanuel is also in the process of calling a full-time pastor to serve alongside the school staff there. Donations will go directly to help buy food and essential supplies for families of the congregations, school and local community.
